PFC Hosts 2010 Legislative Wrap-Up, Announces Legislative Awards
Partnership for Children hosted its annual MO Legislative Wrap-Up Luncheon on June 7th in Kansas City. Over 60 community partners, child advocates, and candidates for office gathered to hear PFC’s presentation on the legislative victories and disappointments for kids this year and to participate in a Q&A forum with local legislators Sen. Justus, Rep. Curls, and Rep. Silvey.
At the event, PFC also honored 6 area legislators for their work on behalf of Kansas City’s children. Receiving PFC’s “Legislator of the Year Award” were Senator Jolie Justus, Representative Kiki Curls, and Representative Ryan Silvey. These legislators were recognized for championing budget items and bills that improved the lives of children and families during the 2010 legislative session. Many thanks for their hard work this year!
Senator Charlie Shields, Representative Paul LeVota, and Representative Beth Low each received our “Distinguished Service Award” because they are members of the General Assembly who: 1) are leaving office this year and 2) fought diligently for Kansas City’s kids during their many years of service. Our thanks and best wishes go to these three visionary leaders for their tireless efforts as members of Missouri’s General Assembly.
Special thanks to United Way of Greater Kansas City for sponsoring this year's event.
