History

Partnership for Children’s (PFC) mission is to focus Greater Kansas City's energy on enhancing life for children and youth through research, education, mobilization, and capacity building. In 1992, PFC issued its first Report Card on the Status of Greater Kansas City’s Children & Youth. In 1997, PFC launched the #1 Question Campaign, which encourages everyone in our community to ask the question — Is it good for the children? — before making any decision. In 2000, PFC became the home for Kansas City’s Promise, a program that is working to provide Greater Kansas City’s children and youth with the resources they need to succeed in life.

Over the next five years, PFC is working to advance and gain public support for two exciting and challenging initiatives that will improve the quality of life for area children and families. The Network of Opportunity for Children and Youth will give families access to quality, affordable early education, before-and-afterschool and out-of-school-time programs for their children birth to 18. PFC is also conducting a broad-based public awareness campaign and providing parental training programs to improve Parent Involvement in Education.
